DSS denies invading CBN Governor’s Office

Abuja– The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has denied claims making the rounds that its operatives invaded the Office of CBN Governor; Godwin Emefiele.

DSS in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, described the report as fake and misleading.

The statement read;

“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23.

This is fake and quite misleading.

Recall that the CBN Governor and the DSS have been in a running battle over alleged terrorism financing by the apex Bank’s Governor. They accordingly sought his arrest.

However, the FCT High Court had in December 2022 barred the secret service from arresting, inviting, or detaining Emefiele.

Several media outlets reported that the DSS stormed Emefiele’s office on Monday preventing him and others from accessing his office area.
